I homeschool my kids. I don't understand the purpose of bringing children into this world only to turn around and let someone else take care of them day after day, all day, out of sight. I am the mother, it is my job to teach and raise my children to make sure they are safe and successful. The children are our future...people really want to leave that to a bunch of strangers?

Today, more than ever, I am thankful that I have the opportunity to stay home and raise my kids and homeschool them.

I also believe that there are so many misconceptions about homeschooled kids. It is far superior to public school. My kids are 4 and 5 and already on subtraction in math and my 5 year old is reading and my 4 year old is on his way to reading. They are beyond Kansas State Standards for Kindergarten but the public school here would not even allow my daughter to start Kindergarten until she is 6 years old because of her birthday. THey are also well socialized. School is not meant to be for making friends and who wants friends like that anyway? (the kinds of kids in school today!)

While I do send my kids to public school, I live in an all-white community, so I feel it's pretty safe. Even still, I don't let my kids walk or even ride the bus. I or my wife drop them off and pick them up every single day. And we don't let them play outside out of our sight either. They don't have the run of the neighborhood the way some kids we see do. I can't imagine letting them just ride off in the sunset to report back in a few hours. Even though that's how it was when I was a kid.

wtf.. all white community? And that makes you fill safe? I live on a Indian reservation to stay Away from People like you. And im home schooling my kid. The books they teach our kids are all lies.. And my heart goes out to the Parents that are going home tonight without there babys. Like my people that died at Wounded Knee Massacre. From Who? White People that hate on all other colors. Although I agree as to your reasoning, is anybody thinking of long term implications? If you think about it, we're going to have a generation who will be so socially fucked up that that alone might breed killing machines.


We are losing our social skills ever since electronic communications crept into our lives.
We're teaching children not even to touch another (germs). There's hardly anymore eye contact because they're too busy fussin' with their iPhones while walking, jogging, shopping, sunbathing, driving or waiting for a bus.


So what will happen if we restrict this generation from interacting with one another during their formative years by keeping them home? We're going to have a generation of human robots.

I don't profess to know the answer but I can see the future ramifications and the future is looking more and more frightening with each passing day though.

I am a proponent of homeschooling, but do you actually believe that all parents are even remotely qualified to homeschool?

This country is filled, sadly, with selfish jerks and idiots who cannot/will not teach their children even the most basic of manners . . . imagine how they would be as actual teachers of academia.

Yes, it's absurd how many people believe school is all about socialization and they actually care more about that than academia.

Children deserve a good education, a safe place to receive that education, they deserve a teacher's full attention and assistance, they deserve to learn math and science and art and music and philosophy, they deserve the right to think for themselves with balanced and proper guidance, they deserve the right to be treated as a real person and not just a number in a public school sheeple setting . . . they can make their own decisions about socialization when they are grown.

Sorry I can't agree with this. I wouldn't home school my kiddies. They need to be around kids their own age and be able to play and have fun and make friends.

I home school all 10 of my children, my oldest now in college! my youngest is 1 yrs old and they will never see the inside of a public school unless we go to PREACH!!

Homeschooled kids miss out on the most memorable things that Public Schools have to offer.

-Bullying
-Popularity & Status Segregation
-Racial Segregation
-All the Stereotyping that goes on in Public Schools

It's people like this who are unwilling to live on one income that has gotten this country in trouble . . . when women came to (falsely) believe that being a homemaker was not fulfilling and entered the workforce, society "adapted" and raised prices to match the two-income standard . . . now, it's much harder for a couple/family to live on one income - but it can be done. It's called budgeting and being unselfish.
