Sandy Hook, like many beautiful small towns in Fairfield County, is one of the best places in the world to live. Small town atmosphere, beautiful scenery, accessible to NYC. But Newtown is too far for a daily commute to NYC, even difficult for a commute to Stamford or Greenwich, so it's cheaper.

Every one of these towns has its share of successful and famous people. Greenwich in the extreme SW corner, closest to NYC probably has the most. Stamford has less because it's more racially mixed, but it's doing great lately. Of course Sandy Hook will have a few famous people.

If you were rich and famous, might you too not want to live there?

Why wouldn't she live there? Nice area. Affluent but the housing prices are not in the stratosphere. Most of the homes are around 400 to 800k and that gets you a nice 4 BR 4 bath with an acre of land or a little more - with about 4000 sq feet living space and a two or three car garage. Compared to NYC or even Greenwich CT the area is a bargain and you've still got very nice homes in a lovely wooded setting near a private lake. Not bad for the money in terms of value for what you get.

Well actually the coast is sort of half and half.

the even number ones are where the servants live, or less well to do people willing to have a smaller house to be close to the train line to nyc.

away from the coast it's not as expensive but consistently white. an example is sandy hook. no train to nyc so it's not for nyc commuters, hence it's affordable for well to do americans and because of the way the area developed, you can get a nice house on a big lot there.

I picked up my 25 year old nephew from work yesterday and told him the details of the school shooting. The first thing that came to his mind was the killing of the children in the last Star Wars movie, 'Revenge of The Sith.' Like most people he has seen WAY TOO MANY horrific movies.

The writers and producers of so-called fantasy movies somehow believe that they aren't training children (and adults) to be crazy. But they are and I hate them from afar.

They also don't seem to realize that their movies and video games are training videos for shooting.

So, I told my nephew that the makers of those movies have been watching each others' movies and one-upping each other on how horrific they can be. And that is one reason why almost every movie available these days should be put in the HORROR section.

My motto is: TAKE THEIR CUSTOMERS

In other words BOYCOTT the bastards.

I used to spend a few college breaks there in summer and winter with a friend...it is most definitely "different" feeling than most places...that's for sure.
