This could easily backfire on those who are immediately calling for gun control measures.

These politicians are elected as our leaders not as knee jerk over-reactionists looking to take advantage of horrible situations.

This murderer killed his own mother and stole her car and guns. Prior to his rampage these guns were providing her with protection. It just goes to show that its not the guns that did the killing but rather the individual.

The public is outraged and now falling into the impassioned calls for more government control instead of calls to remove the ridiculous "no guns" or "gun free" signs that are nothing more than advertisements for helplessness.

My neighbor's daughter is a goth at 24 years old.

I would think she would of out grown it but now she has a boyfriend that looks as bad as she does:

However their feelings of helplessness is directed related to their lack of being able to defend themselves due to their honesty and law abiding nature to not carry a gun in a gun free zone.

Our teachers should not be required to be to carry a gun. But I do believe that they should have that option so long as they are legally permitted to carry and take the correct precautions to secure their weapon while at the school.

Yet commonsensical will be ignored and rather than address the root of the problem heads will be hurried in the sand.

A friend said that they do not want to see the US turn into the Wild West with everyone carrying a weapon. I explained to them that this country was built by the Wild West and that they are foolish to think that way. At least if law abiding citizens are armed then someone other than the "bad guys" will be armed and provide a checks and balance to such horrible situations
