Well, that could turn out to be very interesting and may not be as far fetched as people think.

The Governor of Colorado was just on one of the Sunday morning news shows discussing how they could better identify those who needed mental health care before bad things happen.

That certainly sounds like a noble idea, but, wow, what a slippery slope that could turn into.

Who gets to decide which people are a potential danger to society???

If it's somebody like Bill Mahr or Michael Moore, they would tag, chip, and monitor every single person living in a "red" state..especially the south...and people like the Southern Baptists..they'd just throw all of them into the mental institutions. (I know that's an extreme example, but just to show what COULD happen under the worst extremes).

Not saying it's a bad idea to improve and revamp our mental health care system procedures, but it could go very wrong very fast in the wrong hands.

It's actually not that difficult.

You can start with everyone over the age of 18 who has been diagnosed with any type of violent mood disorder and requires stabilizers. Most people, and by that I mean 99% of the people prescribed psych meds, are on an "honor system" and they frequently get off their meds without people knowing about it. I've been dealing with those dynamics in my own community for years.

Felon violent offender = chipped

Sex offender (with crimes involving minors) = chipped

Diagnosed mental illness with violent tendencies = chipped

Major Schizophrenia = chipped

You can also look at the people who have the longest rap sheets of vioent misdemeanor behavior. My neighbor has never been diagnosed with anything, but he is an obvious sociopath, has burned down 2 of his houses and gotten away with it because there was no insurance money, he has had a local girl kiled and gotten away with it, and he had about 40 restraining orders against him right now (including one from me) and has been caught red-handed at the county recorders office falsifying property deeds so he could steal houses from people he didn't like and was charged and found guilty of felony forgery and he has never served more than a week in jail. He needs a chip. He knows how to manipulate the system to his favor and uses the court system to further torture his victims. He needs a chip.

I brought this very question from here to the local chief of police, and my psychiatrist, and both of them agree that this would be a better option than gun control.

It will eventually control every person on the face of the earth. No matter how sane you think you are, the system will start with the most vulnerable to loosing rights, they'll be chipped first, maybe mental patients, the Alzheimer patients, sex offenders, and inmates in prison. But eventually they will come for you, and that could happen sooner than you think. You may not be aware of this but it's in the Obama Healthcare bill. If your not willing to be chipped don't ever support it for someone else. If you are willing to be chipped, by all means, head on down there and get signed up. As for me, I think I'll pass, I enjoy my freedom and believe my Rights are granted from God, and no political leader, Bill signed into Law, or time of crisis can violate my rights.
