Plus, of course there is an 11 in here: "a premium of 38% over its closing price Wednesday." 3+8=11 |
Hahahahaha User ID: 28872856 United States 12/20/2012 12:14 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Ok, for those of us who aren't market/number tards, what is the big picture here? Quoting: thinkingoutsidetherhombus This. meaningless really. The NYSE is owned by the NYX Group, symbol NYX, look it up. In the end it means nothing except to those holding NYX (me!) WRONG. The NYSE is an American institution and a symbol of our financial system. "Losing it" to an overseas company has a profound SYMBOLIC meaning. As numerous posters have noted above, this does not bode well. We are truly fucked. |

It'll still be in Manhattan, and some American CEO will still ring the bell every morning. It's meaningless. btw, NYSE isn't the only Exchange that the NYX Group owns, I really don't think you understand what you are talking about |

The owner keeps it around mainly for sentimental -- and symbolic -- reasons. If the building on Wall Street were torn down, most of the modern stock market would continue on in cyberspace. |

And in fact NYSE was a joint American-European venture. If anything the company buying it is MORE American controlled then the one that owns it now. Are you guys just complaining because it has the name Intercontinental in it? |
