!!! Mayan end-of-world rumors prompt Michigan officials to close 33 schools !!!

Dozens of schools in Michigan have canceled classes and afterschool activities for the remainder of 2012 following shooting hoaxes in the aftermath of the Connecticut school massacre and ahead of the Mayan doomsday prophecy.

Many of the schools were scheduled to have their last day of classes before the holiday break on Friday. But districts in Genesee and Lapeer counties posted announcements Wednesday evening canceling classes for Thursday and Friday prompted by a shooting hoax.

'We’re going to err on the side of safety,' Lapeer Community Schools Superintendent Matt Wandrie said. The district has been dealing with rampant rumors of violence in schools tied to the end of the world. Schools nationwide have been vigilant after the massacre at a Newtown, Conn., elementary school last Friday.

sweet, if i was the kids, i would post end of the world rumors for every day. comet hit, solar emp, aliens, anything that cannot be attributed to a human being.
