1000 years is symbolic of an indefinitely long period of time. It isn't literal. And neither is the "hour" of trial. That is why the saints "lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years", and they "shall reign with Him for a thousand years."

The thousand year reign of Christ is now, it is the supernatural, out of time-space equivalent of the 1260 days, or 42 months. These are both the +/- 2000 year tribulation period.

The world was meant to be ruled and had dominion by Adam/ Eve, that plan did not change because they made one mistake.
