He looked me square in the eyes and said, "We're going to do whatever we have to do to get what we want." The hair on the back of my neck stood up. I have never forgotten that and at that moment I understood how things really work.

In a radio interview some years back, Obama expressed his view that the rights guaranteed by the Bill of Rights were "negative rights" because they only said what the government can't do, not what it must do. This interview can be found on youtube, at least it used to be there. This explains a lot about his beliefs and provides much basis for the events that are unfolding.
