Does gun ownership mean that you are a COWARD??? | |

(preferably without name calling) :) BTW...a pin would be great because I think this topic is very important with all of the gun control talk that is going on. I will start with listing comments I have overheard in discussions over gun ownership from each side... Those for guns 1. Hunting 2. Protection...There are already too many guns out there in the wrong hands (criminals) therefore gun control would leave good citizens vulnerable. 3. If you let the Government have some gun control then they will eventually take full control and take our guns completely. 4. The 2nd Amendment...it's our right period! Those against guns 1. No need to hunt now that humans are intelligent enough to find other ways of capturing animals for food. 2. There are other ways to protect yourself. (bows, knives, sling shots, tazers ect.) 3. Some people are too paranoid about our government and think they will ban all guns if we only ban the semi-automatics. 4. The 2nd Amendment was written during a different time period. No semi-automatics existed back then and if those that put that amendment into effect could have seen how the future would turn out, they surely would not have signed that. As for my opinion, I can understand points from both sides, however, I do wish that there was more responsibility with some of the gun owners out there. If you do own guns, keep them locked up and I mean "locked up"!!! I myself do not own a gun. I feel that if my life is threatened with a gun and if I die then it must just be my time to go. I do not fear death as I know we go to a better place. I must admit, seeing people run out and buy guns because of what happened at Sandy Hook school worries me. I think buying a gun out of fear is the wrong reason to want to own one. With all of this said, please explain to the opposing party why you think it's important to have guns/semi-autos and/or why guns/gun laws are not a good idea. btw...I'm not a libtard  |

My personal opinion is the people who do own them are responsible for what happens with them. For example, this shooter in Webster, a convicted murder who lost his right to lawfully own one, whose guns were these? Those owners like the Newtown Mom, who can't seem to maintain their guns in a way that keeps them out of the wrong hands should be charged with a crime, a serious crime. Of course she paid for her mistake with her life. Maybe a mandatory life sentence for the owner of a gun used in murder would make people be more responsible for their property. And don't tell me there's no way to keep them safely stored, I'm not stupid. |

But with all humor aside, some people are not mentally stable enough to own a gun. They may look calm and sensible on the outside but how will they react when it comes down to a violent situation? Or whose to say that the "normal" person won't snap suddenly under stress?! For example...I've heard people that have a CCW say that if they would have been in that theater in Aurora that they would have taken that gunman down before he could have killed more people. But what if there were 15 other people in that same theater that also were carrying and pulled their gun out when the shooting started also? Take some trigger happy people all firing from different angles and it could have ended even worse. It truly is a dicey situation we have here. |

I grew up with guns in the house my whole life...my Dad was a hunter, has a lot of animal heads on the walls and would take me up north and "try" to get me into hunting. It just wasn't in me. I can shoot a gun, have done it plenty of times and I don't fear those that own guns. I just don't have the desire for that lifestyle. Call me a pansie, pussy whatever, don't care ;) |

I would not want that on my conscience. Just curious, do you use your seat belt when driving? Have you ever drove while intoxicated? Do you have any safe guards at all in your life? Do you just throw all precaution to the wind? If so ... your time might be over sooner than you think. Somehow I don't believe you are as I mentioned above. Most people who legally carry guns try to avoid any confrontation. They're responsible, honest, compassionate people. The difference from what you claim is they plan to go home to there loved ones each day - or/and - wish to protect them from some of the scum that walks the earth. The problem is the bad guys pray on the weak,small,women,elderly,scared. They avoid those who might look like they can protect themselves. Guns just make the playing field a little more even.Those who would just shrug their shoulders and say what you did are kidding themselves. If you had someone seriously threaten your lives, I bet you would scream like a baby. I do carry, I would shoot someone if the situation required I protect my family or myself. I think what makes everything so tricky about this topic is our lack of being able to read other peoples minds lol. But with all humor aside, some people are not mentally stable enough to own a gun. They may look calm and sensible on the outside but how will they react when it comes down to a violent situation? Or whose to say that the "normal" person won't snap suddenly under stress?! For example...I've heard people that have a CCW say that if they would have been in that theater in Aurora that they would have taken that gunman down before he could have killed more people. But what if there were 15 other people in that same theater that also were carrying and pulled their gun out when the shooting started also? Take some trigger happy people all firing from different angles and it could have ended even worse. It truly is a dicey situation we have here. I'll take my chances with the 15 other people who are 'also carrying.' I guess you'd rather sit around and be a victim. You make your choice, I'll make mine. One of my rights is outlined in the 2nd Amendment, and I intend to maintain that right. By the way, there wasn't really any humor in my initial response, so I'm not sure where you got that idea. I was referring to my comment about none of us being mind readers...guess it wasn't funny lol. I'm a strong believer in that when it's our time, it's our time. You can't cheat death. If anything, I feel bad for those that are willing to kill another human being. I would not want that on my conscience. Just curious, do you use your seat belt when driving? Have you ever drove while intoxicated? Do you have any safe guards at all in your life? Do you just throw all precaution to the wind? If so ... your time might be over sooner than you think. Somehow I don't believe you are as I mentioned above. Most people who legally carry guns try to avoid any confrontation. They're responsible, honest, compassionate people. The difference from what you claim is they plan to go home to there loved ones each day - or/and - wish to protect them from some of the scum that walks the earth. The problem is the bad guys pray on the weak,small,women,elderly,scared. They avoid those who might look like they can protect themselves. Guns just make the playing field a little more even.Those who would just shrug their shoulders and say what you did are kidding themselves. If you had someone seriously threaten your lives, I bet you would scream like a baby. I do carry, I would shoot someone if the situation required I protect my family or myself.
