Confiscating guns from Americans who lawfully own them is a non-starter. Ain't gonna happen.

The police are used to a population of compliant sheep not pissed off people with guns. At that point the people that would consider it wrong to even question a LEO will be ready to draw a bead and fire. Now, they don't have enough manpower to even get the guns if they were given up voluntarily, and it will take 100 times that to take them by force. MOLON LABE YOU CRIMINAL BASTARDS ...THAT is what they'll get.
