Dream help interpretation needed.,about religious matters
I have asked another Glp friend thought I would ask you too.

I had this strange dream last night. I was at the hair dresser and this old woman of a certain European origin was sitting next to me and she was reading a prayer book. She asked me if I wanted to read it I said ok. She opened the book and inside was a card with the image of a Saint. Thought I couldnt see the Saint properly. The old lady said she is St. Catherine of ......didnt catch the end tag..So I dont know which saint she is refering to.
She also said that this Saint was the first or among the first to have an image of Christ crucified. I dont know what she meant if in vision or an image as in a painting or what.
So the Saint is a Saint Catherine who was the first (?) to have an image of the Christ Crucified.
Then she started saying over and over I am to pray to this Saint.

This old lady of a certain European origin appears often in my dreams, or now and again. I dont know who she is but she cares for me and tells me off occasionally. I would recognize her though. She is about late 70/80 has white with a bit of grey short hair a bit wavy and big blue eyes and is thin, thin face, she is rather temperamental, nervous sort of, but underneath she seems to care for me alot. Maybe she is a Saint too? I dont know.

Anyone know who the first Saint is? and if the second is a Saint too? thank you.

I may look into this further but first that came to mind was St Catherine of Sienna. An absolutely brilliant nun in her time.

The European lady I would bet is a deceased ancestor who watches over you. Maybe a grandmother or an aunt. Being plain dressed look to someone who might have died in the 40s or 50s.

Bl. Catherine of Pallanza
Catherine, the lone survivor of a family from Pallanza, Italy that had perished in the plague, recited the Hail Mary a thousand times every Saturday. Around the age of twenty, deeply moved by a sermon on the Passion of Christ, she prostrated herself before a crucifix and consecrated her virginity to God. Soon afterward, she experienced a vision of Christ Crucified, who told her, “Beloved daughter Catherine…I have selected for you the place called Saint Mary on the Mountain.” Acting upon this, she withdrew to live as a hermitess at an alpine Marian sanctuary near Varese. Remaining devoted to the Passion of Christ, Catherine recited daily Saint John’s Gospel account of the Passion, seeing her mountain sanctuary as an image of both Mount Olivet and Mount Calvary. Her hermitage grew into a religious community under her direction. On her deathbed, Catherine was given a crucifix, which she kissed, saying, “I see my beloved Crucified One.” Her confessor then said, “Behold your Crucified One,” to which she responded, “I have him engraved on my heart.”

Thank you but definitely not. She is not from where my family is. She originates from another country. Has nothing to do with my direct family, none of us come from that country. Yes she seems to dress like in the 50s. Plain , conventional and no bright colours. Very thin, lovely big blue eyes, cranky, strict, but seems to know me, though I dont know who she is, and seems to care for me a lot and is always trying to help me. And keeps appearing now and again in my dreams giving advice or telling me off , always trying to help me. She wore glasses once .

But I would like to know also about the first Saint because the old lady said I am to pray to her, but I dont know who she is Catherine of the...first image of crucified Christ? who is that?

Re: Dream help interpretation needed.,about religious matters
Question: "What are Christian saints according to the Bible?"

Answer: The word “saint” comes from the Greek word hagios, which means “consecrated to God, holy, sacred, pious." It is almost always used in the plural, “saints.” "…Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how much harm he did to Your saints at Jerusalem" (Acts 9:13). "Now as Peter was traveling through all those regions, he came down also to the saints who lived at Lydda" (Acts 9:32). "And this is just what I did in Jerusalem; not only did I lock up many of the saints in prisons …“ (Acts 26:10). There is only one instance of the singular use, and that is "Greet every saint in Christ Jesus…" (Philippians 4:21). In Scripture there are 67 uses of the plural “saints” compared to only one use of the singular word “saint.” Even in that one instance, a plurality of saints is in view: “…every saint…” (Philippians 4:21).

The only thing that I could find OP was a reference to Blessed Mary Catherine, who is up for sainthood and is in the process of being canonized. I believe a miracle attributed to her intercession is required for full sainthood.

I think it's not done as a reminder of eternal death of some kind, but rather the sacrifice that was made for eternal life and redemption. hf

Re: Dream help interpretation needed.,about religious matters
Got an e mail from a Glp Catholic friend..because of this odd coincidence it could be this Saint..
I have been bumping miraculous prayers about the shoulder wound of Christ..now I hadnt heard these prayers before, seems that they are due to a certain Catherine Emmerich. I have heard the name I think but know absolutely nothing about her.
Seems she was among the first to have a detailed vision of the Passion of the Christ, as in Image of Christ Crucified, like the dream said, in amazing detail (her visions) and was actually what Mel Gibson used for the movie the Passion of the Christ.

So the amazing coincidence of bumping the threads, and this Saint being the author of the prayer I was bumping, then the dream, I think this is the one.

The old lady whoever she is or was , must have been or is very devout to this Saint and wants me to pray to her.

Re: Dream help interpretation needed.,about religious matters
Thanks to Chumpisme hf
About four years previous to my admittance into the convent, consequently in 1798, it happened that I was in the Jesuits’ Church at Coesfeld, at about twelve o’clock in the day, kneeling before a crucifix and absorbed in meditation, when all on a sudden I felt a strong but pleasant heat in my head, and I saw my Divine Spouse, under the form of a young man clothed with light, come towards me from the altar, where the Blessed Sacrament was preserved in the tabernacle. In his left hand he held a crown of flowers, in his right hand a crown of thorns, and he bade me choose which I would have. I chose the crown of thorns; he placed it on my head, and I pressed it down with both hands. Then he disappeared, and I returned to myself, feeling, however, violent pain around my head. I was obliged to leave the church, which was going to be closed. One of my companions was kneeling by my side, and as I thought she might have seen what happened to me, I asked her when we got home whether there was not a wound on my forehead, and spoke to her in general terms of my vision, and of the violent pain which had followed it. She could see nothing outwardly, but was not astonished at what I told her, because she knew that I was sometimes in an extraordinary state, without her being able to understand the cause. The next day my forehead and temples were very much swelled, and I suffered terribly. This pain and swelling often returned, and sometimes lasted whole days and nights. I did not remark that there was blood on my head until my companions told me I had better put on a clean cap, because mine was covered with red spots. I let them think whatever they liked about it, only taking care to arrange my head-dress so as to hide the blood which flowed from my head, and I continued to observe the same precaution even after I entered the convent, where only one person perceived the blood, and she never betrayed my secret.’

Re: Dream help interpretation needed.,about religious matters
We now proceed to her illnesses, omitting any description of some other remarkable phenomena of her ecstatic life, only recommending the reader to compare the accounts we have already given with what is related of St. Mary Magdalen of Pazzi.

Anne Catherine had always been weak and delicate, and yet had been, from her earliest childhood, in the habit of practising many mortifications, of fasting and of passing the night in watching and prayer in the open air. She had been accustomed to continual hard labour in the fields, at all seasons of the year, and her strength was also necessarily much tried by the exhausting and supernatural states through which she so frequently passed. At the convent she continued to work in the garden and in the house, whilst her spiritual labours and sufferings were ever on the increase, so that it is by no means surprising that she was frequently ill; but her illnesses arose from yet another cause. We have learned, from careful observations made every day for the space of four years, and also from what she herself was unwillingly forced to admit, that during the whole course of her life, and especially during that part of it which she spent at the convent, when she enjoyed the highest spiritual favours, a great portion of her illnesses and sufferings came from taking upon herself the sufferings of others. Sometimes she asked for the illness of a person who did not bear it patiently, and relieved him of the whole or of a part of his sufferings, by taking them upon herself; sometimes, wishing to expiate a sin or put an end to some suffering, she gave herself up into the hands of God, and he, accepting her sacrifice, permitted her thus, in union with the merits of his passion, to expiate the sin by suffering some illness corresponding to it. She had consequently to bear, not only her own maladies, but those also of others—to suffer in expiation of the sins of her brethren, and of the faults and negligences of certain portions of the Christian community—and, finally, to endure many and various sufferings in satisfaction for the souls of purgatory. All these sufferings appeared like real illnesses, which took the most opposite and variable forms, and she was placed entirely under the care of the doctor, who endeavoured by earthly remedies to cure illnesses which in reality were the very sources of her life. She said on this subject—’ Repose in suffering has always appeared to me the most desirable condition possible. The angels themselves would envy us, were envy not an imperfection. But for sufferings to be really meritorious we must patiently and gratefully accept unsuitable remedies and comforts, and all other additional trials. I did not myself fully understand my state, nor know what it was to lead to. In my soul I accepted my different sufferings, but in my body it was my duty to strive against them. I had given myself wholly and entirely to my Heavenly Spouse, and his holy will was being accomplished in me; but I was living on earth, where I was not to rebel against earthly wisdom and earthly prescriptions. Even had I fully comprehended my state, and had both time and power to explain it, there was no one near who would have been able to understand me. A doctor would simply have concluded that I was entirely mad, and would have increased his expensive and painful remedies tenfold. I have suffered much in this way during the whole of my life, and particularly when I was at the convent, from having unsuitable remedies administered to me. Often, when my doctors and nurses had reduced me to the last agony, and that I was near death, God took pity on me, and sent me some supernatural assistance, which effected an entire cure.’

I have read all of Sister Anne Catherine Emmerich's visions, it was a four volume series I read years ago, I believe. From what I remember, she was quite ill and confined to her bed when she had many visions as a mystic of Jesus' life and passion. I think she was from Germany, and for a time she sustained herself on the Eucharist, only, took no other food. I am sorry if you have posted any of this info, just rolling along with what I remember. I found the books very interesting, and she goes into great detail about what she saw. Very interesting if this is the connection from your dream. :-)

hello, the bible says we are not to pray to dead people, and saints are simply dead humans, no matter how good they were on this earth.
1 Timothy 2:4-8 says
"Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. 5For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; 6Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time. 7Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.8 I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting"
The bible also says we must not believe every thing that comes our way, we are to test the spirits of things that come to us claiming we are to pray to them.
1 John 4:1-5 says
"4 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world"
Next time this thing comes to you in a dream, ask it what it thinks of Jesus Christ the one true son of the Living God and see how it reacts.
