I would go with a takimine or the yamaha

If possible, get down to the store and try out a bunch of them. If you're just starting out, go with the one which feels most comfortable(body/neck).

The most important thing for a beginning guitarist is a guitar that's easy to play. It doesn't even matter I it sounds good, because you won't sound that good anyway. Just a note, electric guitars are easier to play. They have less tension on the strings and therefor it's easier to press the strings down. You'll get less buzzing and easier barre chords with an electric.

The best thing to do, if you're a beginner, is to take an experienced player with you to pick out a guitar. Remember, playability of the guitar is paramount. And as a beginner, no guitar will feel easy to play.

If you have to have an acoustic guitar go for the Alvarez.I do suggest an electric guitar and loads of peddles for maximum fun & a big sound..

Personally that's pretty cheap for a guitar. If its a beginners I can understand that, my first was a jasmine. Then I owned a Johnson and Now I have an Ibanez electric. stay away from the cheap guitars though, the strings and the sound will be terrible...

I had an Ovation roundback acoustic I got for $200. Played and sounded pretty damn good. When at the shop, take a look for one, might be worth the few extra bucks.

There might be really good guitars there and really bad ones, but nobody will be able to tell you which one is which just by the brand. Even the same brand same model guitars can vary in quality a lot.
You will get used to which ever guitar you will buy and it will sound ok. Develop your ear, guitar skill, and musical knowledge - that is all what a musician needs, not a fancy instrument.

If it doesn't sound good, then it cannot be easy to play because playing is easy when the instrument is tuned and sounds good. If a guitar won't stay in tune it is worthless until it gets new tuning posts or something.

Anyways OP you're not going to find anything at GC for $100 that will be worthy of calling a real "instrument" anything at that price is a prop for photo shoots and guaranteed will not stay in tune. You're really going to have to spend at a minimum $150 on a used electric guitar or $300 for an acoustic guitar if you want one that will stay in tune and produce a good sound. Take your money to ebay, not guitar center where your money will go farther. Look into an Ibanez, Yamaha or some of the newer fender squier retro models, all used can be found under $200 possibly 150.
For an acoustic I recommend a La Patrie for nylon string apanish style guitars or Godin for steel string acoustic. Those brands are made in canada to a very high level of quality but for one half to one third the price of a comparable american or european made acoustic guitar. And you can find plenty of them used.
