Quoting: The Antichrist 666 It's like an hour long... does he say he mention the effects on batteries? He was not able to fully test the vehicles to destruction because he would be charged for each one destroyed. Whether a close nuke atack would destroy unshielded generators I really don't know. This is what I am trying to find out. All the research I found says that batteries are safe from an emp. Yup, an EMP just fries the computer boxes in cars. Older vehicles that don't have them will still operate. Ahhh, the points days were good. So I DO have to wrap my truck in aluminum foil... "Woman!!! We need to buy some more foil from Costco!" |

[link to www.futurescience.com] It's like an hour long... does he say he mention the effects on batteries? Not batteries but generators. [link to www.futurescience.com] quoting :- I also must re-emphasize the fact that during Soviet high-altitude nuclear tests over Kazakhstan in 1962, rugged diesel generators having no solid state parts were burned out by E1 EMP. In an important international electromagnetics conference in 1994, after the breakup of the Soviet Union, General Vladimir Loborev delivered an important technical paper in which he stated, "The matter of this phenomenon is that the electrical puncture occurs at the weak point of a system. Next, the heat puncture is developed at that point, under the action of the power voltage; as a result, the electrical power source is put out of action very often." This illustrates that even vehicles without an electronic ignition or other electronic components are not immune from EMP. So you need to shield your gennies or they will get burned out? |

Way ahead of you... I already have the gennys and the inverter in a metal garbage can sealed with foil tape. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1103018 Could EMP punch through a metal can? No.... a car doesnt work as a faraday cage the doors have gaskets that do not allow the metal tomake contact and the paint does not allow the current to tranfer. The non painted galvenized garbage can with a lid does work. |

You need a second exit from your bunker in to the garden, if you have one. If youre house is burning and you are in the bunker your trapped! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 31494551 Tomb DooM ! I'm not worried about the single story house collapsing on it. It's already under two feet of dirt. The hatches are in a concrete room 5 feet tall so the hatches cant get blocked. I have a 4 ton jack in the bunker and steel pipe different lengths with couplers to assemble them together and get out of any sittuation... |

If everyone is ran off the land permanently by a civil war then when you come out... 2. "And they shall go into the holes of the rocks, and into the caves of the earth, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty, when he rises to shake terribly the earth." |
