That holds me back as well (although I don't think they are actually working with "the elite" as is often said here, and that their principles do promote a "power to the people" philosophy, despite lodges apparently prohibiting political discussion).

I also don't like having to wear a tuxedo, having to role play, etc. A mason that I know personally said it's the best decision he's ever made...but I just can't see why. So I sought another path.

Dude just stay away from freemasons! They are like the mafia. They get you in by telling you sexy stuff but once you're in, you can't get out and you then have to do unsavory stuff because they'll get something on you. It is like the mafia.
