Sandy Hook shooting conspiracy theories - people smiling on TV theory DEBUNKED
One of the most stupid explanations certain conspiracy theorists use to "prove" that the sandy shooting was apparently a hoax is that those that were interviewed on TV were smiling. Hence it had to be a hoax because they should be looking distressed and worried after a "horrific shooting" right?

WRONG.

Well guess what?

Most people tend to smile in stressful or nervous situations. So it is perfectly understandable why the people interviewed were smiling at certain bits of the interview they were giving to NATIONAL NEWS BROADCASTERS.

ITS PART OF HUMAN NATURE OR IS THAT FAKE TOO?

Nervous laughter[2] is laughter evoked from an audience's expression of embarrassment, alarm, discomfort or confusion, rather than amusement. Nervous laughter is usually less robust in expression than "a good belly laugh", and may be combined with confused glances or awkward silence on the part of others in the audience. Nervous laughter is considered analogous to a courtesy laugh,[2] which may be rendered by more of a conscious effort in an attempt to move a situation along more quickly, especially when the comedian is pausing for laughter.
Nervous laughter is a physical reaction to stress, tension, confusion, or anxiety - just like sweaty palms or a raised heart-rate. It's not something you consciously choose to do. Nervous laughter has nothing to do with your sense of humor, and can overcome you at the unfunniest of times. Ramachandran states "We have nervous laughter because we want to make ourselves think what horrible thing we encountered isn't really as horrible as it appears, something we want to believe." Those are the most embarrassing times, too, naturally.[3] Psychologist and neuroscientist Robert Provine, from the University of Maryland, studied over 1,200 "laughter episodes" and determined that 80% of laughter isn't a response to an intentional joke

I'm with you on this one, OP. Everyone loves to point to Robbie Parker just because he was smiling before he got on camera. But damn! He is about to make a national news broadcast. The man was nervous.

It's not just the specific incident of nervous laughter (which I can understand) -- but other things OVERALL like an overall lack of tears, or Gene Rosen taking children into his home for playtime without ever contacting authorities (creepy!). I could more easily accept nervous laughter from one person if I also saw real emotion somewhere but...no. The REAL problem is this story is being fabricated by media and politicians into a "production" that has little transparency, major inconsistencies, little facts and no clarifications. IF this is a true tragedy, it's the media and politicians who are being disrespectful to victims by using the event for their own aims and agendas. The public -- we are all just noticing things not "ringing true" in a story being manipulated to attack our 2nd ammendment rights.

When your child is killed you are in shock - there is no nervous laughter. I know this because my child was killed and I was on the news and there was no laughing or joking with the reporters or cameramen and no nervous laughter - I was in shock.

the poor kids body wasn't even cold yet and the dad was straight smiling, sorry but you could tell the difference between a "nervous laugh" and a nonchalant smile

not implying it's a set up or anything stupid like that, just that the whole thing seemed to come a little to naturally to the father

What I don't get is WHY these folks even feel the need to address the media in situations like this. The Media was forbidden to "hassle" them which is understandable.

What in hell do I have to gain by stepping in front of the world via mass media hours after my child has been murdered?

The killer is dead. My child is dead. Leave me and the rest of my family alone and let us grieve in our own way.

It does not make sense and it is simply stupid. There is NOTHING to gain.

Maybe, MAYBE one of these "parents" would be nervously smiling or laughing, but certainly not all of them. And even if they were truly grieving but just nervous in front of an audience, they would look like they had been crying!!!! They lost a child, they would be crying A LOT. Their eyes would probably be red and they would definitely be puffy. Crying takes an emotional as well as physical toll on the body. Either those parents are REAL parents with STILL LIVING children, they are NOT parents to these children, or they are all unfeeling, uncaring, coldblooded subhumans who don't mourn the loss of their innocent children.
