I have three freinds named Sandy and they always have Doom Drama in their lives. Their women. This is a sign of WEAK MINDS easily INFLUENCED. Don't you get that part. You have mush between your ears. God forbid that anyone should think differently than you, eh Sandy? After all, you've been such a shining light to us all... Oh, wait - no you're just another AC parading his antisocial side for us - without a freaking thing to offer, other than criticism... Say something relevant of start your own thread about how your mum's basement in Ottawa is different than the one you hope to move into in Toronto someday - but how they both smell vaguely of camphor and cats... Thanks for sharing your insights on the subject AC - we've been enlightened and bettered by your help - at least as much as folk like us with weak minds [no caps] can appreciate. Anyway, OP - the idea that place names can give an indication of the nature of an area has long been established in both folklore and history. For one very good reason - folk tend to name places with an eye toward how they make a person feel. Another reason is that they name places to commemorate things that have happened there, etc... Not a lot of data in most of those place names, but there can be a clue or a shadow of meaning there. Context is important. As old grumpy mentioned, there are lots of "Sandys" and they come in all shapes and sizes, with little in common. The name is one ingredient in a long, complex recipe. MCB To measure a circle - start anywhere... Charles Fort Total Choas! Belief is the enemy - John Keel Is it a coincidence that right there in the middle of the word "believe" is the word "lie?" I find this an interesting twist I would love to hear you all's feedback. Quoting: BlackDahlia [link to www.youtube.com] I dunno. ITS IN THE MOVIE DJANGO! I walked in late tonight and as I sat down slave traders were transporting Django and calling him a "sandy (racial epithet deleted)". I didn't understand the context or the meaning of the word but it was an exchange of several lines, something like "You've some some sand about you boy." \ome kind of retort. "Well your the sandiest (as per glp red letter instructions, racial epithet used freely in R rated movie has been deleted) I've ever seen". Another actors line. "Well isn't he a sandy (racial epithet deleted)." I could be mistaken. I walked in late. I was distracted by a handsome black man and horses. Women are like that. Sorry. But I honestly believe there was three or four line repetition of the peculiar term "sandy" to describe either the captive slave Django. The movie has obvious social justice achieved through firepower themes. And a man looks like Malcolm dresses like Hendrix. Call that a revolutionary theme. Plenty of vegan spatter. (All the blood was sythetic and no animals were frightened in the making. Ignore my ramble. I was about ten minutes late. Django was in custody of some white guys and the German had just asked if he could identify the wanted brothers. Iwas getting oriented to the film and wondered what the heck "sandy" could mean. |

Maybe its a stretch, but it struck me as odd and its a pro gun pro freedom film in these troubled times. Its a good movie if you like camp and spatter. Please do see it or use other means to check the "sandy" reference. Id like to think I caught one. |
BlackDahlia (OP) User ID: 24418900 United States 01/08/2013 11:19 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This is the final installment of a very long but very informative series. I was not expecting the creator to go in this direction and found it odd is all. I never really put much creed into the whole Sandy conspiracy stuff untill now. Thanks for your thoughts and I will check out DJango |

It really wasn't all that deep. Believe me. They said that the main character had "sand." Meaning he had "grit." It is another way of saying he had strength of character. |

It really wasn't all that deep. Believe me. They said that the main character had "sand." Meaning he had "grit." It is another way of saying he had strength of character. I believe you. I got that meaning. it still jumped out at me as an odd word to use. And as I said, I believe it was repeated. "You've got sand" and then "you are sandy". Perhaps three or four repetitions of the word. The movie is a progun message in the same way the terror attack on Sandy Hook was an anti-gun message. Its not a leap to say the movie says "You are sandy (hook). You can learn to fight. You can fight and kill the oppressors over you. You can do it on the right side of law and order. You can win and be free" The Sandy Hook reference in the last Batman film is creepy. I don't usually get into that kind of coincidence but that one bugs me. Could Tarantino have put that awkward bit of dialogue in Django after the movie was finished to make a subliminal message? |
