Pittsburgh is my home town. I was born and raised in a suburb of the 'burgh but left when i was 18 and haven't gone back except for a short visit every few years or so to see family.
I'm thinking about going back.
I must be out of my mind, but i'm thinking of going back so i can be close to my family.
I'm sure things have changed quite a bit, or maybe they haven't, I dunno.
Anyway, i'm posting this thread in the hopes yins guys will give me the current skinny on the city (more specifically the suburbs) to help me make my decision.
maybe the thread will lay flat. but, posting anyway...

I live in the south hills. yep the winters are ruff and they don't take care of the roads to good. the traffic is horrendous, oh they are good drivers, they just seem to make up their own rules...LOL and yes the crime rate has gone up and burbs that were quiet and peaceful are not run down, but other than all that I am so glad to be here. I haven't felt so excepted and at home like this in years Century 3 mall used to be great, I worked there while in high school. I heard it's ghost town now and gangs hang out there, is that true? apparently this was a fact...but now they have cleaned up all the rift raft....some business has bought it and supposed to open more stores and try to bring it back to what it once was in the 70ties.....I say "good luck with that guys" lol Yeah, I saw that in the news...I also saw something about possibly being rented out to UPMC or something? It's GOTTA be bad if even the Diary Queen left that place. What a shame, because it used to be a really great place to go and spend a few hours as a kid. Wouldn't let MY kids do that now though
