Why do people make such a big deal out of snow storms? we got 25 inches. but they plowed it, and the next day it was normal, as always

The media are all primed and expectant for big disasters following the hurricanes. They'll settle down after a few more months of peace and quiet. Also, anything that happens in New York City is newsworthy to them.

30 years ago, after about 5 days after the blizzard, we had to shovel 3/4 of the alley to get our car out.

Its that entertaining disaster mentality, like the 3 days after 911. News outlets had the best ratings ever then. Becides they have to mix atleast a little truth to the shit they spout to keep ya tuned in.

Traveled from Long Island, through NYC via Ground Zero, into Jersey City this am. Some delays here and there but made it fine. Schools across the region are mostly closed today but will be open tomorrow. Pretty much back to normal after "the record" snowfall. Give me a break.
