I see now, you had a mountain bike with kick arse tires. Yeah, these Dutch are cruising along with old, bald tires, half of the time!
BTW, good tip:
Place around the tire and rim of your bike wheel TIE-WRAPS about every 3 inches. Poor mans snow chains!

It's a pain in the ass to get a stuck car out. Spent over an hour on Sunday digging the neighbours car out of the back lane. Yes, indeed. And snow is FAR better then ice. I wiped out once on an icy patch on my bike, did not see it coming, taking a corner - much like in that video of yours and then WAM, on my ass, well side (hip took it hard). Took the breath away from me.
