5 years ago a young man close to me survived a suicide attempt. He wound up ditching college also. Today, he is 22, finally in a stable relationship, has held a job at a chain pharmacy which is now a junior management position with heath care and other benefits, and has just signed a lease for decent a rental share with a few friends (two couples.)

His job was not what he aspired to, but it's now a steady one with perks, and room for advancement. The pay is not optimal, yet it allows him to slowly pay off debts. His path may have taken a turn he did not anticipate, but he continues to work through it.

He's regained the confidence that eluded him that near-fatal night.

It might be helpful if you sought out some therapy. The young man I mentioned was able to get this free through an agency at the hospital that saved his life. There are probably similar agencies in your area.

Do not despair. Live is both a challenge and learning experience, and those who have faced obstacles and kept on going may be better equipped to handle new problems, having already faced some nasty ones.
