Why do dog groomers continue to use the DEADLY hangsman noose grooming tables??

Keeping animals as "pets" is the real fucking crime.

Never seen a dog snap its neck like that on one of those tables.

Seen them fall off plenty of times.

Dog groomers are like vets. They make their living by leeching off our love for our pets.

Pets, get it? Not working animals that earn their keep but the whole concept of using animal_as_pet. What the fuck is a pet? A surrogate for a child or another human being? Walk into any large grocery store in the US and down the "pet" food aisles. It's fucking obscene. One whole row of dog food, another of cat food, you could feed multiple third world villages with the proteins sacrificed there, then their toys, grooming supplies, etc.
It's become fucking disgusting, a vestige of a privileged people over-ripe with neurosis.

For one, any real person who has an animal and cares and loves for it considers that animal as a family member. Not a pet. Second, go to any fucking grocery store where you buy food to shove down your fucking throat, and you will find the same damn thing you just described only for humans and at a larger scale. Anywhere from toys,food to grooming supplies.

This thread got my attention because I am a former animal groomer. However, I am schooled at one of the best teaching facilities in the country.

I love all animals. The first thing we learned is to never turn away from the animal without keeping one hand on the animal.

The noose is a safety device. It provides safety first to the animal and second to the groomer. Most animals learn the grooming routine after a few visits and accept this mild restraint as part of the process.

Even the calmest and forgiving pet can be sensitive around it's feet. Nails and pads need to be kept in shape which includes trimming the nails. The noose makes it possible to perform this procedure without being injured by a biting animal.

The noose keeps the animal in the center of the grooming table and speeds up the process for the animal.

However, I can tell you horror stories by untrained groomers and I advise everyone check out the groomer before trusting your beloved pet to their care.

Word of mouth will put the careless groomer out of business quickly. And will build the business of the competent and expert groomer.

Accidents happen, always will. During my time grooming I had two accidents [none of a serious nature] which traumatized me as much as the animal. The owners, however, understood and forgave me instantly. They wanted only me to care for their animal.

In the beginning I told my clients that I might not be the best groomer in the area, but I promised to do the best job I could.

For the last ten years of my business I had to refuse any new clients because I was fully booked and had no place to fit in their animal.

Grooming is rewarding as it provides great satisfaction to see this shaggy little creature turn into what their owner thought was a show dog.

It's hard grueling work and requires all attention to be on the animal and I don't recommend anyone attempt to do this without proper training.

I began grooming my own dog years before ever deciding to do it for others. I hope everyone will learn to groom their own dog. For the time the animal is on the table the relationship becomes one of deep trust from the animal and confidence for it's owner.

Would you rather people not feed their animal friends? Just let them starve to death? The "pet" isle is food for animals, You find that even if you went to a store that was specifically for animal breeds. I am not saying people don't abuse animals or leave them for dead. But that happens even with humans, its our nature. But If I am going to bring an animal into my care, it will be treated like I treat myself, not a pet, not a toy. But as a person. And at times I will put it ahead of my own needs to make sure it gets taken care of.

Groomers are doing a job which is difficult. If you have a love of animals and a creative side, it's a wonderful job to have.

But as in everything, there is a bad side. Some dogs are like people. Some are just difficult little jerks that hate having a haircut.

When I was in grooming school, there was a young girl next to me working on a sheltie. The dog had been great standing steady, seemed to be calm and relaxed. Without warning, the dog leaped straight and snapped its neck. She had a great love for dogs and was pursuing what she loved. It all ended for her that day. Her of this happening again, stole her joy.

I would like to continue this conversation, but I can see you would rather put logic behind you. And Would rather Take the actions of a few, and use them against An entire community of people who actually do care for their animal friends. And going by your logic, people should not have children as well. Because a certain percentage abuse, kill rape and destroy those kids. Therefore everybody should not have kids.

Having a pet is a great responsibility, And you don't have to buy from the grocery store for them. You can create your own diet to keep them healthy and fit. It is YOU that decides whether your friend becomes a slave or not. And with your mentality, I would say it is best for you not to have one, because if believe they are slaves, then you most likely would treat them as one.

My wife owns a grooming shop, its a service for people who dont want to wash there dogs at home. No different then taking your car in to get it washed at a car wash.
She has never killed a dog in the 14 years that she has been in buisness.
I have helped out from time to time when she is busy and trust me when I say she really loves the animals and is pobably kinder to them then the owners. The (Hangmans Noose) in her shop is not long enough for the dog to get to the edge of the table.
