On reading those abstracts I was struck by how similar the concepts and language are to a similar discussion of astrophysics. The engineering of structures in the cell (microbiology) vs. the engineering of structures in space (like magnetic field lines from the sun engineered to connect with earth.

Reminds of a book I read almost 20 years ago now, by Deepok Chopra, called Perfect Health. In it he said;

"The space between the atoms in the cells of the body are comparable to the space between stars in the galaxy". I found that mind-blowing back then and certainly contributed to my awakening.
