Who the fuck cares about Hollywood movies/films? Movies, Tv Shows, Commercials, etc. have been controlling your mind and telling you what to think since you were born. WAKE THE FUCK UP and let Hollywood all burn to the ground.

Wow, you guys are left behind! I live in Montreal Quebec, And we have 2 stores here in the west island which closed down a few years ago.... go figure

Netflix does not get enough movies theses days.

We have Family Video's all over the place here... Ain't never been there, they tell me it's nice.

closing retail stores is not going under...its called adapting

Blockbuster is a bunch of lying thieves, they rent you scratched dvd's and/or games then when it's returned they want compensation usually $50+ the retail price. Employees an their friends rent movies under other peoples accounts and don't return them leaving the customer with the bill when they happen to come back in to rent or drop off something.

They won't be missed.

Video Warehouse was a lot better but now most of their purchases are in the adult section at least our local one is doing this.

Torrents are for amateurs.

we used to have two video stores in my town VHQ and Movie gallery than one bot out all of the other stores than declared bankruptcy liquidated both company's. for a short time we had a small independent video store but now even they are closing down. With pay per view on cable, satellite, and apps like netflix its a sad reality that movie stores are going to go out of business soon all that information will only be accessible online or threw your television provider thus controlling more information and what can be seen and what cant.

The internet has opened up worlds of info., compared to what one used to be allowed to view...granted it has let in an evil, an evil that could perhaps be our downfall, if we let it, but there is still much good as well. -In the way of uncensored information, and other gems, for now..

they are losing stores over here also, one in my area the other soon to close...

theres only a few video rental stores left over here in vienna, austria (EU). blockbuster closed down all the austrian stores about 10 years ago, because they didnt bring any money.

video rentals are SOOOO 1990's.
we have amazon, piratebay, pay-per-view channels PLUS about 40 free-to-everyone cable/satellite channels.

i dont get why you americans still RENT pictures?

here in the Uk, the courier firm I work for is on life support too, and no courier firm is paying enough to keep couriers afloat, so I'm stuck in a dead end job, paying to work in effect. it's untenable

Does anyone remember when to buy an actual movie it cost like $80? And you had to pay for a membership? Haha the good ole days. Then we had beepers then Alpha pagers then cell phones and now we have gone back to the Alpha pager tech via texting.

School taught me that it would be easily considered a coincidence.

Fuck the owners of Blockbuster, yet another large corporation which swept through the lands pushing out all the other local, individually run video outlets.

I haven't had anything to do with Blockbuster now for probably nearly 10 years, the grief i and a few others used to get was unbelievable with so-called, late returns. They won't be missed.

But sure, another piece of evidence that things are looking rather bleak out there.

Now you can sell them to Amazon for $10 each.

A bunch of Sweetbay and Food Lion Supermarkets are closing in Florida, about 5000 jobs to be lost there.

Where will all those snarky employees with Master's degrees in Modern Cinema go now?

I am the plaintiff who sued them for ridiculous never-ending/mounting late fees. Thanks to my class action lawsuit, they came up with a much friendlier way to settle late returns and not act like mafia loan sharks towards customers.

That's why I sued them. They agreed to stop after we settled.

See that, and Supermarkets closing hurts a little more than a video store.
