Check out these pictures and google hits from the 2008 Atlanta Tornado that ripped through downtown Atlanta itself, hit CNN Center and Phillips Arena in the middle of a Hawks basketball Game. [link to www.google.com (secure)] Pictures of the cityscape with the twister coming down out of the sky are remarkable and stunning! I know somebody who was there when it happened. Was pretty wild. |

Major Damage & Fatalities. I work for a tree service and when there are storms like this we know there is going to be a lot of damage. What I HATE though is there will be trees that need to come out of peoples' properties...and these people have plenty of money to do it, they just want to *think* about it. (I know a lot of times people can't afford the work that needs to be done) I've gotten TWO calls already today from people so upset there are trees on their roofs. BTW, both of those trees were discussed to be removed in the last two weeks and now these families will have to have parts of their roofs replaced and who knows what else inside--and the storms still have like 2 hrs to go. UGHHHHHH! |

But in all seriousness, I'm right smack in the middle of an are where oddly, squall lines tend to split in half right over me, or start to and get very narrow, right over me... I think it has something to do with the Chattahoochee River right in this area, I'm very close to Morgan Falls Dam and Bull Sluice Lake/Morgan Falls Reservoir... the humidity in this area seems to have an effect on Weather Systems as they pass through.... weakens them right over this area, or something. Its like... I'm watching it on the radar and a squall line moving over my area is the red sea, and suddenly its like the hand of God himself parting the red sea as the Squall Line starts to split in half... Doesn't always happen, but its cool when it does. Rain is spotty here now, off and on... LOL, just like i said... weather radar shows the "red" splitting apart right over my area. Rain just opened up big time here though, in Sandy Springs. Wind is not too bad, but the rain is something fierce. My office parking lot almost looks like a lake now lol...
