Simple.
Those who seek a sign, are given the sign of Jonah, three days in the belly of a whale, or in this case, three days in the Tomb.
Those who believed without seeking a sign saw many.

Sounds like a general statement to me,do not add conjecture and speculation the words are quite clear. Then see what YOU want to see, and don't ask others what they see if you will so easily discount it. You are trying to rewrite scripture: Jesus didn't say or even imply that those who seek a sign are given the sign of Jonah but on the other hand those who seek a sign and believe are given many signs. Jesus gave a genral statement that his entire generation "pre-first century" would not be given any sign. And he sighed deeply in his spirit, and saith, Why doth this generation seek after a sign? verily I say unto you, There shall no sign be given unto this generation. You asked a question, I answered your question, you did not receive the answer you wanted, so I will take my answer and leave you be.
