Anonymous Coward User ID: 33711950 Canada 02/04/2013 10:39 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I think all judges belong on the end of a rope but when I had to go the several times I did, I had the good sense not to antagonize them. I let them know that I believed the proceedings were fixed and that the outcome was already determined and they don't take offense to that, if you handle it with tact. You have to use a little common sense when playing with fire. |

What a dumbass. He shouldn't even be aloud to sentence here not knowing that. Did she break any one or any one else's property when she crashed her bike? If so, pay for that, if not, go on about your business. How can he sentence people for drugs when he does not know what they are? Is the next person going to get 10 years for a Zantac... |

Really fucking stupid on her part. Maybe next time she will take things a little more seriously. I would have given her 30 days for flipping me off too. Gun control is like trying to reduce drunk driving by making it tougher for sober people to own cars. I'd like to go quietly in my sleep, like grandpa did. Not screaming in terror like the people in the back seat of the car he was driving. |

Penelope Soto, 18, was arrested for illegal possession of Xanax. Fucking sick - look why she's there in the first place...for a violent crime? for stealing? NO - because she took some pills... It's disgusting that we've been conned into to thinking that this is in anyway right... |

She probably should have taken her hearing a little more seriously. I don't agree with the war on drugs, but the law is what it is. If you find yourself on the wrong side of it, disrespecting the judge isn't the best move. This is an oubliette. The labyrinth is full of 'em. |

I can appreciate his stance on respect for the court when she gave him the finger but he escalated it when he took offense to "Adios". It was all his interpretation of her "tude" at that point. That was all his. If you have "tude" and aggression I could see his response not tude and xanax. I think a real professional would have ordered a psych evaluation. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 27337595 United States 02/05/2013 03:38 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | 2. She was bragging to the judge about her own net worth (tons of jewelry, etc.) after having already and obviously declared herself insolvent (poor) and therefore unable to hire a private attorney. The attorney defending her was a court appointed attorney. Sometimes they are public defenders and employees of the state or city (in larger cases), but most likely this guy was like many private defense attorneys that sign up with the court to defend minor criminal cases on a freelance basis aside from their own private defense practices. They are paid a very decent hourly wage that comes from YOUR TAX DOLLARS. 3. From what I understood bitch was going to get credit for time served in jail and released on her own recognizance. She is dumb as shit and didn't even understand what was going on, neither did she even let her appointed attorney speak. She didn't have to say a DAMN word. Nothing. It's all handled already. 4. The judge find like her attitude. This means he wasn't sure she was going to learn from her mistake. What mistake? Having more drugs on you than YOU personally need at any one time, regardless of your addiction. She could have and maybe SHOULD have been charged with intent to distribute! 5. So he raises her bail. Big deal. You pay what, 10% to a bail bondsman to get out? So her bail jumped from $500 to $1,000 for being a snotty little bitch and disrespecting not the judge himself as an individual, but the rule of law and the court system. 6. Insult the Court (not the judge himself) again? Ya, you're going to sit your crack addicted little ass in jail for the next 30 days with NO credit for the weekend you just spent there! The judge in a municipal court in a big city like Miami is not interested in wasting the taxpayers' money and the Court's time. They have prearranged bargains for people like this bitch that have no prior convictions. In and out. Next case please. That bitch didn't even realize she was getting off easy! |

Are you fucking kidding me? That was a call that had nothing to DO with the LAW that had to do with his own personal feelings about the fact that she had said adios.... he as abusing his power in this and fining her for his own ego tripping.. what an arsehole. |

So she was in active benzodiazapine withdrawl when this was filmed? [link to www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Physiological dependence on benzodiazepines is accompanied by a withdrawal syndrome which is typically characterized by sleep disturbance, irritability, increased tension and anxiety, panic attacks, hand tremor, sweating, difficulty in concentration, dry wretching and nausea, some weight loss, palpitations, headache, muscular pain and stiffness and a host of perceptual changes That might explain doing strange things which are not in her own self interest. She could also have died in a pool of her own vomit on day one, making for another high ticket lawsuit against the county. |

I don't think this Judge was as bad as some but so much of what is going on everywhere can be attributed to abuse of power, plain and simple. They pervert, thus destroy the very purpose of an institution. |
