But we don't know what everyone's allowed to use. The U.S. Army, for instance, has, permission to fly drones in the "general location" of the Pentagon. Type of drone? "Unknown." ... more at link in above post |

Government officials gather in a secret courtroom, poring over documents and weighing whether to approve the fly-by killing of a suspected terrorist. If the judges say yes, the target dies. If not, the target lives. But U.S. senators are now floating the idea of an assassination court as a way to rein in the ever-expanding drone program -- a secretive operation that, as it is, sounds like thriller fiction, but isn't. Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 2731277 United States 02/08/2013 04:18 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Is This the Secret U.S. Drone Base in Saudi Arabia? These satellite images show a remote airstrip deep in the desert of Saudi Arabia. It may or may not be the secret U.S. drone base revealed by reporters earlier this week. But the base’s hangars bear a remarkable resemblance to similar structures found on other American drone outposts. And its remote location — dozens of miles from the nearest highway, and farther still to the nearest town – suggests that this may be more than the average civilian airstrip. According to accounts from the Washington Post and The New York Times, the U.S. built its secret Saudi base approximately two years ago. Its first lethal mission was in September of 2011: a strike on Anwar al-Awlaki, the American-born propagandist for al-Qaida’s affiliate in Yemen, which borders Saudi Arabia. Since then, the U.S. has launched dozens of drone attacks on Yemeni targets. News organizations eventually found out about the base. But they agreed to keep it out of their pages — part of an informal arrangement with the Obama administration, which claimed that the disclosure of the base’s location, even in a general way, might jeopardize national security. On Tuesday, that loose embargo was broken. |

Anybody remember that "explosion" in Indianapolis a few months back... that was a crashed drone. And they didn't waste any time covering that up. Nobody noticed... nobody cares. There's probably multiple drones flying over every major city in the U.S. right now. Wouldn't surprise me in the least. |

"I believe the future for these things is civilian," he said. "Instead of hiring 10 night guards to patrol somewhere, 10 night guards to you can use two helicopters piloted by a computer -- it's patrol somewhere, much cheaper." Makes me consider maybe Chris Droner might be in one somewhere - I'm sure he knew of the elite plans as well. Can a drone find someone in a bunker ? [link to justpiper.com] |
