How close are Syrian rebels actually to Damascus???

Every news article says something like "rebels seize Damascus suburb" or "Syrian Army defends Damascus suburb" but how close are the rebels to actually beginning the final "Battle For Damascus"? I think I read somewhere that the FSA was like a mile from Damascus or something.

Anybody with military experience able to estimate how long it might be before the rebels enter Damascus proper and take the battle right to Assad's last stand??
