If you can afford it, just buy extra freezers and real food and freeze it. Canned goods are fine. I've never bought dehydrated foods, know nothing about them. But I think I'd rather just have real food. Acts 3:21 |

You think answering to you rather than an AC with the same people reading the answers is better? Dumb ass troll. He'd obviously too stupid to be a paid shill. Nut job is a derogatory term propagated by the MSM to describe anyone who don't swallow everything that they squirt, and here this moron is parroting it like the good useful idiot that he is. What a waste of space. |

This is one of the places I would get my preps, if I were a prepper: [link to beprepared.com] Mountain House is expensive but they have different varieties of MH on sale each month. They also have their own brand of dehydrated (as opposed to freeze dried) vegies, meat, and fruits, as well as baking products, at a much cheaper price, with good sales each month and very reasonable shipping rates. Hypothetically, if I were prepping, I would also buy twenty pound bags of white rice ($7.00 at Foods Co.) and beans $15 (Costco), just because it's super cheap, and gives lots of carbs to survive on. I would make sure to have a gravity water purifier (Berkey or Aquarain), if I were prepping, that is. I would also get some "fish" antibiotics at the pet store, as I have heard that it is not just similar but exactly identical to human antibiotics, made in the same factory with the same ingredients, but no prescription needed and much cheaper. |

I have candles, extra propane, magnesium fire starters, firewood, tools, medical supplies, medications, seeds, tons of clothing (I'm in the industry) several pairs of good boots, I grew up working on bikes, and have more than just one, hammers, nails, axes, knives, (no rope) tarps, can purify water with revers osmosis, extra filters, access to water, and plenty to protect it with, without talking about it. All I was asking is that I have a limited supply of money, my father is extremely worried about what is fixing to happen, and has given me a very limited amount of money, I know that sounds horrible accepting money from my dad, but things have been tighter and tighter lately, and I was wondering what would be the most effective cost wise way to go? I don't want to waste such a valuable opportunity That was it. Last Edited by GodFrequency on 02/10/2013 10:07 PM |

For food you're going to keep in your house you buy what you normally buy at the grocery store and rotate it into your everyday food supply as the due dates come close. it's cheaper, you can afford more of it and most will last 3 years. If you haven't figured out how to survive in 3 years before your food supply is gone, you're a dead man anyway. |

Nobody but a fool with more money than brains buys all that overpriced shit except for one purpose. To bury it in a place you will not be able to easily access it for safekeeping, such as in a drum way out in the middle of some National Forest in a place you plan to run to as a last resort. That's where you need the 10 or 15 year shelf lives. That's great except whenever your income starts to run out, I have noticed alot of people start eating through their food previsions . |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28232375 Here is a website with lots of helpful information: [link to www.provident-living-today.com] THank you! Yes, you are welcome. Another thing I actually do is watch the weekly food ads. Last week I was able to buy 18 pounds of pasta and 12 jars of spaghetti sauce for only $20 at Foods Co. One week they had taco seasoning packets for only fifty cents so I bought ten of those. I have bought cake mix for .75 a box. It's kind of like a hobby, and some of the stuff I wouldn't eat unless I'm seriously starving but it could be used to barter with also. Costco is one of my favorite places because they have lots of organic food in bulk at prices cheaper than most grocery stores charge for regular GMO crap. Case of 12 organic tomato paste for six dollars. Organic canned beans for .85 cents a can. Giant jar (2 lb. 10 oz.) of organic strawberry preserves for under six dollars. Bulk organic coconut oil super cheap, lasts forever, doesn't go rancid, great for cooking. Good luck and have fun shopping. Get the bulk food first, it's cheap and makes you feel like you have at least the basics. |
