My wife has one for her job. Believe me, she went through hoops to get one. For those who say it is a wasted cause, I say to you, bullshit. It allows her employer to contact her when they need to, not to mention peace of mind as she travels to WORK every night. But hey, most of you wouldn't fucking understand anyway.

i'm sorry, but my tax $ going for your wife's peace of mind is utter bullshit. i rather see that 2 billion going to employing that population so they can afford those types of luxury items, should they want to buy them.
if an employer needs to get in touch with your wife, she should take some of her income and buy a phone, or ask for the employer to cover it.
I agree that people without a phone should have some type of help for getting a job, but why couldn't they set up a free voicemail software that you could call and check via a payphone, library phone, unemployment office phone, etc.
If the phones only dialed 911 and took incoming calls, it'd be one thing... but why in the hell should I have to pay for anyone's personal calls, aside from my own?
