Hopefully none of you lose your jobs and end up working for slave wages.
This is a benefit for the "working poor".You guys act like you're sitting in front of a fireplace, reading a novel, smoking a pipe and sipping on a vintage wine.I hope you assholes lose your jobs and get desperate enough to have to work for 9.00 an hour and I bet you'll be grateful it's still not 8.25.
At least these people work instead of sucking off the government....you people make me sick

Re: Definition Of Minimum Wage-We'd Pay You Less If It Wasn't Against The Law
yeah... I've studied the arguments for getting rid of the minimum wage.

The truth is it would obviously increase employment. Companies would be able to hire more people. To do any little thing.

But it would not improve the economy. Because we already have welfare and foodstamps. Why would people take jobs for less pay then they get for free from the government? They won't. So there would be a slight bump in job growth. But it would all be undesireable jobs where the people would still be considered 'underemployed'.

The theory is that hard working people would get an opportunity in a company and then work their way up. Bitch PLEEEEAASE. We all know that's not how it works these days.

So does the minimum wage actually help things? Yes. Basically it prevents the startup of slave corporations. In other words, almost anyone can start up a succesful business model if they have slaves working for them. Minimum wage prevents this from happening though. The only way you can run a business is if you create enough income to pay people a certain wage. So people have to put some thought into their business model and take this into account. It takes absolute slavery off the table. Or limits it any rate.

And of course, none of this matters, because when we opened up trade with countries like china that uses slaves... our corporations could not compete. And our entire economy crumbled.

People blame the illegal immigrants, but what they don't get is that without that slave labor we would literally have almost no companies in America. Because it's the illegal immigrant slave labor that allowed our corporations to compete with the Chinese corporations with slave labor.

Get it?

Government,Chinese and large corporations are to blame? What's your solution?Answer=There isn't one unless we completely overthrow our government, rid this nation of corporate greed, illegal to make products in china, get rid of the illegals and shut the border.None of this will happen so we might as well treat our working poor with a lil' compassion

I've noticed how the public has been brainwashed into thinking the poor are the cause of the economy today.

Let's also add 15 million illegal aliens into the mix. Give them amnesty and what does that do to the job pool?

And the other school of thought is that American companies would be doing just fine if not burdened by compliance to these meddlesome regulations that are designed not to "regulate" in the true sense of the word but instead to achieve the arbitrary social outcomes of a disinterested 3rd party ( in this case government), that has no stake in either the labor or management of the company.

Increasing minimum wage is also going to increase the company's portion of FICA withholding, a hidden business expense that the worker does not see. Now combine that with what is already the highest corporate tax rate in the industrialized world.

Thus, the claim can be equally legitimately made that increasing the cost of doing business is just as hurtful to American companies as is the slave labor in China and other 3rd world shitholes. Obviously, the single best way to boost wages and become more competitive globally would be to remove wage regulations and eliminate corporate taxation altogether, since all of these costs are not actually paid by the business anyway but actually passed through the business to the end consumer. But then, that type of system would eliminate the politician's ability to manipulate and control and of course you'd have the resident dolts complaining about corporate welfare.

No. Minimium wage is only paid to the laziest of worthless bastards who in all actuality if they were paid what they were worth would end up owing the company money. Minimum wage is just another affirmative action ploy to shift the burden of caring for the ignorant, uneducated, and lazy shiftless bums of society from the government to the private business sector.

Well not too many years ago, minimum wage jobs were taken up by young workers as a way of entering the workforce. It was never intended to "support" an adult or family. However now we have an immigrant peasant class that is perfectly fine making minimum wage as an adult, partially because they can also get food stamps and other benefits to supplement that raises their "income" threshold high enough that they never need to aspire to make any more. All of the fast food restaurants as such used to be staffed by high school kids and graduates paying their way through college. Now they are staffed by adults in the 30s and 40s.
