This is what I was able to dig up in Google:

This is clearly describing the International Space Station, an international effort which will have an international crew, and indicates that there will be famine and disease epidemics across the Northern Hemisphere in the next few years. This could be AIDS, SARS, Swine or Bird Flu, Ebola or Marburg virus. Its unclear what "Samarobryn" means. One hundred leagues is about 300 miles, which would be in orbit around the earth.


I would like to hear some alternative explanations.

Well soemthing not on earth was my first thought. Space station makes a lot of sense -- though could esily be some sort of mother shipthey neer talk about. Not the moon as it is obviously farther away than 100 leagues.

My understanding is that "100 leagues" is approximately 300 miles.
That would roughly coincide with the distance of the space station to earth.

Nostredamus often used words that weren't quite right, as if he'd heard them from a distance, like Hisler, so I wondered if there was a place that sounded similar - the 'bryn' at the end could mean something else like land or something, and Pakistan is at the centre of militant Islam terrorism.

On a different tack, just concentrating on the word, I was drawn to Samarkand; it has some historical significance I think. Just thinking out loud.

It wasn't Hisler, it was Hister. Hister (genitive Histri) is the Latin name for the Danube river in Germany.

I think he was letting us know where is would occur and it (not coincidently) also very close to Hitler's name.

The ISS is 370km above earth. 100 leagues is 550km above earth. There is something between the space station and the moon.That must still come. The ISS cannot go that far out because of radiation.

That is not what the quatrain says at all.

That line says, "Samarobryn one hundred leagues from the hemisphere", not "from the earth".

Samarobryn almost sounds like a Russian word. ?

A samarobryn is a seed pod that has wings. When it is released into the air is spins until it land somewhere to take root.
This sounds like a space station or a satellite.
