It's a hypothetical planet. Some believe the asteroids are the remains of planet Vulcan.

That's right. Supposed to be a planet between Merc and the Sun in occult circles. Whether or not it really exists, I do think the name's no longer an option.

in the same light, Leonard Nimoy IS NOT a Vulcan, and the moon should not be named after him for that reason.

"I need your help. As you saw with my post below, I asked that fans write in to get the name of one of Pluto's moons Vulcan (Romulus was already the name of a moon.) It apparently made a difference as they now have added it as an official name. Isn't that wonderful.
