I have been a school bus driver for almost 26 years. I try my best to give motorist time to stop for my lights. It's hard to do when I'm required to make a stop on both the first and second sides of an intersection and I'm tying up traffic on a busy street.
I rarely can get a license number of someone running my lights, as the violator is speeding past me. I'm concentrating on the safety of the students entering or exiting the bus.
When in my personal vehicle I hate waiting on a school bus, but know the driver is doing what they must safely and legally do.
If you see a bus driver making a stop that puts motorists in danger of being hit, contact the school district. All bus stops are approved by the school board and they should consider moving it.
Hopefully our first concern is the lives of the precious children riding the school bus!
