Lester User ID: 39269582 United States 05/06/2013 01:22 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | All fun & games aside; have you taken any steps toward making provision for self-sufficiency and self-reliance? Having stuff that depletes and has no ability for replenishment is just buying a little time. All the idiots seem to think having a BO bag is the end-all solution. Some assholes think this is a backpacking adventure to solve for... Got somewhere to bug-out to? Really ought to just live there and Be There rfn. Think the shit isn't already in the air? Think when it lands, you'll just don a cool rucksack and mosey on down the trail? Own any kind of decent water filtration? Got access to water that won't make you sick or infest you with parasites? Giardia and cysts are plenty real. Sure there aren't now or won't be dead animals or other pollutants affecting your water? Maybe a BO plan works in event of some spontaneous disaster, but since anyone who ever crunched business numbers can see the lies and tremendous effort at pretense of normality; many know that financial collapse or contrived event is coming and even now is long overdue. A spontaneous thing offers one benefit of not being planned and contrived. BO gear may be enough and the chaos and bewilderment may be so real as to enable your slipping by and through on your bugout tiptoe to wherever you're going. The contrived event though will not be truly chaotic. Lockdown will have been planned. Think there were actually 9,000 fully-armed troops and 500+ diesel troopcarriers just standing-by in case something happened during That Footrace In Boston? There will be no safety in traipsing through the outback. Trails? Are you kidding? Gonna walk trails? Gonna carry a bunch of gear, essential stuff? Planning to be somebody else's pizza deliveryman? Chicken Delight? Might just be time to face reality and decide what realistic options you have access to and how you can assure self & family that they will deliver all you envision. Wells mostly need a pump to deliver water. Electronic gear require clean and non-variable voltage at set amperage. Defensive weapons require ability to use them, make repairs, and keep them in ammunition. Figure that even if random calamity of nature befalls your area that there life will return to "normal"?... Pretty silly idea. The money is GONE, the supplies to rebuild are N/A, insurer's don't pay, Gov't don't care and O-care has taken your hours and benefits. Not much to work with anywhere. Like the Neill Young lyric, "in the field of opportunity, it's planting time again"; time to be sure you can rely on somebody who'll make effort to see you thrive. The only person aside from some of your immediate family (maybe) is you... |

Creepy-crawlies running like hell away from you? I think you are referring to a bug out bag, usually a large rucksack or backpack, filled with items that will help you survive. Bugging out is referring to leaving your place of dwelling because of a dangerous situation, be it natural or man made, such as war or economic collapse. Most people in large urban settings will be faced with this. Rural settings will most likely result in a bug in situation. Bugging in refers to staying put in place and surviving there, where hopefully you have stockpiled everything you need to survive without leaving. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 38675747 [link to www.prepperwebsite.com] This what to expect. [link to shtfschool.com] Selco's experience from the Bosnian conflict is amazing. It had a really minimal fee for all of his audio interviews, but it was hours and hours worth of content and i listened to them all like an audio book and it was great first-hand content of what it is like to survive through a civil conflict. A real eye-opener, and if anyone isn't familiar with it, take a look. Plus, he still updates the content regularly. I'm pretty fiscally conservative, and I thought it was a good value. Just my $.02. |
