i followed the bail trial in detail and i think he's guilty as fuck, simply snapped during a fight and killed her. his story doesn't make sense. but his legal team and spin doctors might well succeed in getting him out on bail, and then getting him a much lesser sentence with a culpable homicide conviction instead of premeditated murder.

It's pretty simple. The charges were reinstated against Botha. He was then assigned to a case that is high profile. This put him and his charges in the spotlight. He was suspended in order to save the prosecution from liability and public scrutiny.
