A riddle for Catholics and the false belief that Mary was sinless
Catholics...here is a problem you have in believing that Mary was sinless...

From James...
God cannot be tempted by evil. [link to bible.cc]

From John
Jesus is God in the flesh (verse 14)
[link to www.biblegateway.com]

From the gospels..
Jesus was lead by the Holy Spirit into the desert to be tempted... [link to www.biblegateway.com]

How could Jesus have been tempted...what part of Jesus's makeup allowed Him to be tested?

Oh oh Catholics...Jesus inherited His ability to be tempted...from Mary.

Mary had sinned...or why else would Catholics have had to invent the immaculate conception...in 1854? Catholics had to invent a doctrine that said that Mary was born sinless...utter nonsense!

I'm not catholic but I have never read that they portray her as sinless.

Another stupid thread by a protestant with no clue.

1) Mary is sinless. Yep. This doesn't mean she wasn't tempted, just that, she stayed open to grace, kept following God and never sinned.
2) Jesus is God and man. In his humanity, he experienced temptation. Temptation isn't sin. See 1.

Re: A riddle for Catholics and the false belief that Mary was sinless
I have a huge problem with SIN. God created man and woman just the way we are. Everything else up until us was good. According to the bible. But then God went and wrecked it all with us humans. Full of sins. Why did he make us that way if he does not like it. I dont get it. Are we that powerful that God has to destroy us. Is it that we have something in us that God fears??? The whole sin concept seems to be a control mechanism. either good or bad I am not making a jugement call. just saying. Oh and sorry OP dont mean to take you off you subjecthf

And the "brilliant" Catholic scholars needed a mere 1821 years to come up with this doctrine? Mary needed a Savior...because she had sinned. Why did Mary offer a sin offering...the birds that were sacrificed (to fulfill Moses Law) regarding childbirth? Nice try to ignore obvious Scripture.

We inherit original sin at birth. If you claim Mary wasn't sinless then you're also saying Jesus wasn't sinless.

Re: A riddle for Catholics and the false belief that Mary was sinless
You have to understand that no one is born sinless. We are corporal creatures born in sin, meaning we are born into corruption and will die. Jesus died, the fully human part of him died, but not the God part of Him died.

No, the "original sin" idea is a Catholic invention. You are born with a sinful nature...a tendency to sin...but, you are not born with sin. Ezekiel 18 does a good job of explaining the situation...
