How do you truly gauge the quality of someones genes just by looking at their physical appearance? If someone has acne, or sun damaged skin, a broken nose, or a few crooked teeth etc, does that mean that that person is unworthy of passing on their genes, when many of the things we consider 'ugly' are actually due to conditioning/wear & tear, rather than genetics? Is attractiveness only something that is influenced by popular media & fashion at any one era in time? 80's style girls are not particularly attractive to me now, but they were considered 'hot' just 30 years ago. Surgery can make people look better in some instances, but so can makeup, hair dye, fake eyelashes, fake tan, nice clothes etc, so it is unfair to criticize those who have surgery just to look more normal when the world is full of fake tactics to improve ones chances of pro-creating (the whole purpose of life). Less attractive people can have very attractive children, and very attractive people may carry some hereditary medical conditions with their genes, and vice versa. Some people may not be attractive during a certain era of their life, maybe due to acne or weight issues. The only way to truly gauge how healthy ones genes are would be to have a full medical examination and look at family history. As humans we are naturally attracted to things we find beautiful, and what is considered beautiful is often heavily influenced by what is popular. |
