Best yogurt I have ever had was homemade. All it takes is a dollop of store bought whole fat plain yogurt, whole milk and an oven that is turned off overnight.
Quoting: nah you made yoghurt from milk, using other yoghurt as a culture starter. great. good for you. assuming the milk wasn't raw but pasteurized, you either had real yoghurt to start with (otherwise, no bacterial culture would start), which you fucked up with sterile milk. or you had a completely lifeless concoction of sterile milk and sterile yoghurt. but i might be mistaken. You are mistaken, my grandmother made it. I've never made it myself. Best yogurt is also Bulgarian.
