If 'receptor loss' from just a small area affects 'concrete thinking', then why oh why can Stephen Hawking, who has MOTOR NEURON disease, attain such a high level of 'concrete thinking' as required in advanced mathematics and physics? The article goes on to say it causes 'detachment from reality'. How would Professor Hawking even be able to confront the NATURE of reality with such a detachment. Later still it says 'accurateness of discrimination'? Surely Professor Hawking has a great ability to discriminate.
