Thought maybe you would enjoy this...
So, the forums I frequent give a "frat" warning (fuck reading all that) when something is long winded, so here ya go.. Frat ahead!

Today I took my daughter to the animal rescue league to see if there were any worthy dogs (she liked, and got along with kids and other dogs, and passed my judgment test) so we were on a particular side of town that doesnt harbor the best of individuals.

As we were heading home, a car turned in front of me, so i honked as I had to slam on my breaks.

They took it upon themselves to turn around from the way the were going, and follow my daughter and I. She is 4. Raced up to be almost 5 ft from my tail. So I showed them my break lights.

They spun out of control and almost flipped (as bad of a person as this will make me sound like, I was thinking this was their best option.. the reason in a moment). Well they managed to NOT flip unfortunately.

Now, as a former military member, and avid gun afficienado, I was carrying my XDM .45 in the trunk. Loaded.

I thought, ok, my daughter is with me, Im not going to even entertain fighting two guys. Not by myself with her in the car.

So they chased me around town for a little bit. So i popped my trunk, to have immediate access to my .45. Though, I decided if I could avoid shooting two people in front of my child, that would be best. I also had absolutely ZERO problem accepting that if I had to do that, I would.

I also called the police. Now this is where maybe you guys will find it interesting.

I met up with one of the cops afterwords, told him they were no longer following me. He asked why I called I said "it was either call you, or call you to pick up two bodies with bullet holes".

I was told that I would have went to jail if I waived a gun at them, for brandishing a firearm. I laughed a little and told him "sir, if my gun left the trunk, it wouldnt be waived around"

I was then informed I have NO RIGHT to defend myself or child with a firearm. I thanked the officer for responding and went on my way.

GLP, had you been in the same situation, would you have hesitated to eliminate two idiots from the gene pool, in order to gaurantee protection for your child?

I was ready. And Im glad I felt no hesitation in what might need to be done if it came to it, when the situation was a live issue.

That's frightening. Did the cops have any sane, helpful suggestions about what they thought you could have done had there been a confrontation?

What do the gun laws in your state say about this kind of situation?

Personally, if it came right down to it---defend against thugs or cave in--I'd take my chances and defend myself and family..

I live in Iowa, a pretty left leaning gun state, I'd be toast no matter what if I defended with my gun

Lots of better places to conceal that pistol

than the trunk of your car!

so i honked as I had to slam on my breaks.

People are crazy and you can't honk or flip someone off or anything unless you want to risk something like what happened to you.

You got off lucky.

Lol. I think they may have gotten off lucky. They don't win a gun fight nor a fist fight.

This is more about what the cop said than what "coulda". I'm seeking these two gentleman to see if they would like to meet me tomorrow for their introductions to a father who takes his daughters safety to the extreme

I carry on me unless I'm going to school or have my daughter. Then it's accessible in the front of the trunk
