Healthy green juice with a cheap blender
Round up your kitchen counter blender, or go to a thrift store and find one.

Organic kale, celery, bok choy, cucumbers, parsley, cilantro, spinach, collards, etc.

These are the ingredients to a healthful green juice from a blender.

I have had a kale, spinach, asparagus and lemon drink for breakfast the last two weeks. I feel renewed and have energy to do everything!

Put your favorite greens (organic if possible) plus a minimal amount of filtered water in your blender, maybe about 1/4 cup. Blend til broken down, but don't let the blender heat up the juice! No fruit allowed!

I bought flour sack towels at Wal-Mart to strain the juice, 100,% cotton. Washed then in very hot water in the sink without detergent. Cut in quarters, these will last longer than nut bags.

Get a bowl, a fine mesh strainer and your straining material. Liquify your greens in the blender and pour them over the straining material into the bowl. Wait just a few minutes and squeeze the juice into the bowl.

Pour juice into your drinking vessel and be prepared to feel awesome.

Lemon juice helps the bitter greens not so bitter, I've also heard about ginger too.

No need to spend $$ on a juicer when I spent $1 on one at a yard sale. Drink your veggies, it's good for you! :-)

I really need to do this. I've been feeling really sluggish lately. Thanks OP, I'd give you 5 stars but I've used them up already.

Do it! I was a couch slob for weeks, gained weight and had no energy. I saw those juicer infomercials and thought I could do the same with my cheap ass blender. Hardcore juicers probably don't like this method but I'm broke and at least trying a healthy lifestyle :-) It's working, I feel better than ever!

I basically eat a version of this all the time.

I will mix flax seed, hemp protein, nut oils, and nut milks in with it, and I will often use some fruit as well.

If u used a better blender, you wouldnt have the need to filter out the good stuff. Why no fruit?

Also just to add, I do not "juice" it, i.e. I don't strain mine.

I just blend it all up and drink it. This way you still get the fiber.

No fruit just because of sugar content. My blender works just fine breaking everything down. I don't want the pulp, just the juice. The juice goes right down the gullet while the pulp goes into the compost pile our into the dog food.

Juice with pulp is too much for my tummy. Juicing has made me feel more energized :-)

Dumping out a lot of beneficial product. Good blenders emulsify pretty thorough. Fruit is just as essential. My opinion of course afro

This is a good way to use up fresh foods that sit around in your fridge before they turn to black slime. Any produce you can eat raw you can drink as juice or smoothie. Helps clear up lots of health issues. Thanks for this reminder to get juicing again!

The green smoothie fad is gaining steam and is a great way to fight the NWO assault on your body...we used a standard cuisanart blender for awhile, it works ok. Noticed the motor was starting to smoke when I jammed to much in it at ounce. Wife bought a vitamix a couple weeks ago and that thing is a beast. We put fruit in ours, so the kids will eat it.

Here's my recipe:

Spinach
Kale
Zucchini
Brussels sprouts
Bean sprouts or alfalfa sprouts
Carrots
Celery
Parsley
Cilinatro
Apple
Orange
Pear
Radishes
Frozen mango
Frozen berries

I can tell you this, if you drink a smoothie like this in the morning you will be full and not hungry all day. It will wake up your body and you will CRAVE this everyday. This has been a godsend even my pickiest child now begs for green smoothies! I need to find a source for spiraling or chia seeds to get protein though. (Ghetto grocery stores in my area have no idea wtf "chia seeds or spirolina are)

Green smoothies will improve your health guaranteed!

I went searching online for a Vitamix today because I saw it mentioned in some blogs. I was not expecting the price! That'll have to wait. Unless there are 101 other uses for it besides making juice.

Re: Healthy green juice with a cheap blender
Yes I am juicing every day until swim suit weather :)

Was surprised to find that raw asparagus is packed with protein.

Because of the delicate nature of asparagus, the best way to hit your cells with their full antioxidant punch is raw and juiced. Asparagus has a surprisingly high amount of protein with an added powerhouse of vitamins and minerals. Just 53 calories (10 oz) contain 9g of protein, 119% of your daily need of vitamin C, 9% of iron and 47% of calcium. It is also very high in vitamins E and K, selenium, manganese, copper, potassium, phosphorus, folate, niacin, riboflavin, and thiamin.

Here's to healthy living OP.

Re: Healthy green juice with a cheap blender
I have almost tried juicing a few times now but can never bring myself to do it. I am such a picky eater, I am afraid I will waste money on it. And I live in an area with no juicing-type cafes or restaurants to even try it. I tried eating cilantro recently and couldn't do it because it smells like stink bugs. Maybe next time I'm in a bigger metro area I'll look up a juicing cafe and give it a shot before I spend the money.

Oh you will surely love it. I got mine at Sam's Club for $50. It's fantastic. Just became a habit . . . one of my better ones I must say :)
