disease could be still in bones , and now they're going to check those in labs hoping to find the virus or what?

there have been, individual, cases of bubonic plague during the last decades. the hospitals involved took standard precautionary measures, and all was fine.

it's not like those archeologist are grubbing around in that dirt, gnawling on the remains.

People still get the plague every now and then. Mostly field biologists. It's carried by rodents, but luckily these days, it's treated with doxycycline. If, for some reason, the bacteria was able to survive all those centuries (which is highly unlikely), then a quick batch of doxycycline is all that is needed.

I proofread a book several years ago called "Twelve Diseases That Changed Our World" by Irwin Sherman. It had a chapter on Bubonic Plague. Interesting read.
