It only take a stroke of a pen to close the banks for a holiday and freeze all the money in the accounts. Then they can just about do anything they want. If credit and debit cards don't work most people will be stuck, just trying to get food and basic stuff.

The US Government cannot seize bank accounts, the government cannot take the pension funds, it will be dangerous confiscate the gold and take away personal assets unless the people are disarmed. Saw a Cypriot today saying credit/debit cards were NOT being accepted by merchants. They wanted cash (euro) ONLY.
