What's Wrong With Giving Cash As a "Gift"?

Why so? Giving someone cash as a gift lows them to buy whatever they want instead of being tied into whatever store card you get them. If it makes it better ill give new unmarked bills and say happy birthday!

yes you can feel better thinking the recipient can truly buy what they want but you could have got them something from you that you knew they wanted badly enough that they wouldn't buy for themselves..the thought is way more valuable- a connection that they will have every time they look at your gift that came from your heart

I've never had anyone refuse cash along with a Christmas or birthday card. It sure beats figuring out what a 10 year old really wants.

So cash doesnt come from the heart? Its something you have to earn by getting up everyday and busting your ass 40+ hours per week. The fact that i think of giving someone some of this hard earn cash in physical form should be worth more than made in china junk.

It's OK to give cash if you can't be bothered to come up with a suitable gift. You just have to give 3 times as much money as the suitable gift would have cost you, or it will come off as cheap.
