The only way to remove an elected official like a sheriff is to impeach them at the state level or through a recall election. So what they are saying is that they will pass an unconstitutional law to enforce an unconstitutional law. Very classy...

Well, I'll say again, if the sheriffs find themselves in the position of forcible removal, they could always deputize a bunch of like-minded citizens to help them out.

I spoke with my Sheriff about the Constitutional Sheriffs Association headed by Mack. He had not heard of them.
My prediction is, more Sheriffs in the 3,100 or so counties across the US will now join with Sheriff Mack's organization.
This is exactly why they formed in the first place, Federal over-reach VS State and County Constitutional Authority.
I just wish they allowed Associate Membership of US citizens and/or Military Veterans to join them.

I was a Democrat until they became Socialists, then I became Republican. They turned Liberal, so now I am independent and tend to applaud any calamity that visits either one of those piece of shit self serving sleaze bags.

Most County Sheriffs are elected by the people within their jurisdiction, meaning that they are responsible only to the people, not to the federal government. The federal gov't. has no authority to remove duly elected County Sheriffs.

Didn't they just sue the state of AZ for attempting to enforce federal immigration law? Aren't these the same hypocritical assholes that set up "sanctuary cities" where TPTB within them refuse to enforce federal immigration laws?

For purposes of Section 66.001, a person holding an elective or appointive office of this state or of a political subdivision of this state does an act that causes the forfeiture of the person's office if the person:

(1) willfully fails to enforce a state or federal law in
the course of the person's official duties;

(2) directs others subject to the person's supervision
or control as a public official not to enforce a state or federal law; or

(3) states orally or in writing that the person does
not intend to enforce a state or federal law in the course of the person's official duties

So basically what she is proposing would also make any act or statement that violates the spirit of current federal immigration law punishable by removal from office also, and it would apply to any elected TX official. So, theoretically any Texas politician that proposes amnesty, asylum, access to public services or college tuition, for any illegal aliens, anything other than enforcement of existing federal law would be subject to removal from office on that basis. What a stupid bitch!

Well, it is very strange that sheriffs everywhere are mysteriously turning up shot and killed right around the time all of this news is coming out.
