Uhhm, while I have no love for the teachers union, the guy that made this video seems like a whiney fat loser.

He's crying about someone barely touching him and someone making fun of him while in the midst of a huge crowd.

I know these things can get out of hand, but this really is a poor video to showcase 'thug' behavior. This guy is really reaching here. He could of at least taped some Ape behavior to make it legit.

The first video of the guy being "beaten"? What a joke. The reporter was not beaten, but if he'd done a better job of interviewing, he might have been, what a dork.

The fat union leader talking about lying to parents....well lying is never right, but unless you've had to teach 40 kids with diverse upbringings, you might want to give the lady a break.

I actually have a kid that teachers have to, no doubt, work around. And I stay on top of his behavior and issues, but it is no doubt hard for his teachers on occasion.
That lady telling the story about having the kid's back, and using it as blackmail, that was kinda funny and clever. I use the same techniques with my own kid. You've got to sometimes work the kids to get what you want out of them.


And spare me. if you disagree with me. That just means you either don't have a kid, or yours happens to be mild mannered, (I have one of those too).

The teacher in the next video is better example of union craziness.

No, I think he's right on target here. The title of this thread involved a reporter being beaten.

I didn't like her use of the word "hostage" but the rest of it is pretty true. I've taught both middle school and high school (in lower-income areas for the most part) and sometimes you do what you have to do. Most of the time parents don't give a damn what their kids are doing in school...I usually had maybe 2% parent attendance at conferences. You do have to try to be as upbeat as possible during the first quarter. Otherwise, they'll just think you're a bitch who has it out for their kids and you'll never get their cooperation again. It really, really sucks but that's the reality.

I got out of teaching other people's kids and now just teach my own at home. Best decision I ever made.

As for the teachers' unions: they're one of the main reasons the public schools are in such a horrible mess. The sooner their power is curtailed, the sooner we can get our schools back on track. I refused to ever join a union when I was teaching and I was harassed, bullied and belittled my many of my rabidly pro-union colleagues. They're lovely people, those union thugs.

How many Chicago school students even know what Entrusting means?

Be great if it did.
