I have seen Shutter Island, but not Inception.
I can see parallels along the lines you put forth.
In keeping with that line, I ask then, how do you fit the other force in the movie that is fully aware of his pain, and exploits it to manipulate the male character?

SHutter island was about MK ultra and project paperclip. The doctors weren't trying to help free him, quite teh opposite. Damn son, might want to take another look. One thing though, even though MK-Ultra etc. is absolutly a thing, I get the impression it is mostly used as a means to an end. It is a tool for TPTB, one of many, but not the reason they exist, nor does it represent their goals. Sometimes it is too easy to just chalk this stuff up to "Oh, there is the butterfly, so MIND CONTROL" and stop there. This is one reason I don't give VC much credit anymore, because his interpretation usually stops at just that point. There are deep esoteric motivations behind TPTB and what they present to us, and not all of it even represents the same uniform agenda. And to retort, no it's not that easy, hence why you, yourself had the interpretation wrong until it was explained to you and light was shed on the truth of story. Most watch this and think the main character wd insane.... But if you watch with eyes to see and ears to hear.. It's clearly the opposite.
