More that anything, the Mentally Ill need the care they had before Regan closed many facilities down and the iII are now being handled by the police and the prisons.

Reagan? Really??

SO because he closed down mental health facilities that made doctors prescribe these medications?

You need to re-evaluate your thinking process. You are not looking at things with a fair view if you would blame Reagan for this nonsense.

Most people do not need these medications. THat is why so many have problems with it. This was somewhat uncommon before. There are people with genuine chemical imbalances and others with reasons to take such strong meds but many people who are given them do not need them.

I would object to that. Who would go on these medications without the absolute need. Please give me examples.

Doctors and psychiatrists prescribe all sorts of shit for individuals at the drop of a hat... Then the meds start interacting with one another and having side effects and they start prescribing new meds to address the new 'symptoms' and changing around the dosages and experimenting with different combinations of drugs... One big toxic chemical concoction....

I had a friend who was put on 4 different strong drugs by his psychiatrist, one was a VERY strong anti-psychotic. This friend was a nice kid his whole life and a genuine good guy that never gave anyone trouble over anything. The medications they had him on totally zapped his personality and when we were around him he would just speak out irregularly and make all sorts of weird and out of place comments that would have us questioning his sanity. He eventually got off of some of those meds and his personality came back. Now when we're around him it feels like the same old person we had once known. Whatever meds his Psychiatrist had him on we could clearly see it was not helping him, only making him more zoned out and alienated and detached from his normal personality.

These Doctors and Psychiatrists are playing with fire most of the time. They do not intimately know the consciousness of the individuals they are prescribing these powerful & mind-altering substances to. They cannot possibly understand how multiple drugs are interacting with one another and affecting the individual. Most of these Doctors/Psychiatrists were indoctrinated to buy into this whole drug business/operation and to look for 'convenient' chemical solutions to inherently emotional/spiritual 'conflicts' that their patients are suffering from. Looking for ways to mask these 'issues' with chemical concotions rather than finding natural/homeopathic/emotional/spiritual solutions.

There are major major flaws in our system of mental health care. This whole method of looking for a quick & convenient fix by prescribing mind-altering, toxic, and dangerous drugs is an epidemic and causing more harm than good.

Can you imagine if there was civil unrest or a large-scale natural disaster and suddenly the pharmacies were shut-down or looted and people were not able to get their prescriptions filled and you had everyone going into withdrawal from their meds on a massive, widespread scale? It would be an absolute nightmare. I bet a lot of people would start harming themselves and many would also harm others.

Your points are well said but I would like to add what about the diabetic, the heart patient or the kidney patient; what will happen to them as well?
