Why do some people feel the need to live through a "gimmick" on GLP?

Well it's true, there are certain people here who you can predict pretty much everything they are going to say (or such like). And it always fits to their profile or user name. So my real question to go with this is, do some people find GLP as a place where they get to act as a character in a play or a piece in their own drama? What are your thoughts?

Most that you are referring to are not real people put personas developed to try and shape your opinion on one issue or another. Like, Brief, for example is created to make you think that people are uncaring and callous. He's not a real person.
